Coil Love: The Coily Hair Guide

  • How to Test Your Hair Porosity at Home

    1. The Float Test

Step 1: Take a few strands of clean, dry hair. Ensure they’re free from any products, as buildup can affect the results.
Step 2: Fill a clear glass with room-temperature water.
Step 3: Place the hair strands into the water and let them sit for 2–4 minutes.
Step 4: Observe the hair’s position in the water:
      • Floats at the top: Low porosity – hair repels moisture and takes longer to absorb water.
      • Sinks slowly to the middle: Medium (normal) porosity – hair absorbs and retains moisture well.
      • Sinks quickly to the bottom: High porosity – hair absorbs moisture quickly but may struggle to retain it.
